영어성경 : 요한복음 1장 설명...

1년동안 요한복음을 외울 정도로 함께 영어 듣고 문법 보고 하겠습니다.
아래 셩경 구절을 분석해서 하나하나씩 업데이트해나가겠습니다.
하루에 한절씩 마스터 한다는 목표로 진행합니다.
대신 꾸준히 읽고 듣고, 영어성경말씀이 귀에 익숙해셔 말로도 술술 나오길 기도합니다~!!


The Gospel of John endeavors to explain the mystery of the person of Christ by the use of the term "logos"(word) and was written to confirm Christians in the belief that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of God. Its purpose is evangelical and is so stated in 20:31.  John not only records events as do the other Gospels but also uniquely interprets the events by giving them spiritual meaning.
The author makes significant use of such words as light, water, life, love, and bread.
Traditionally the author of this Gospel is considered to have been John , the Beloved Disciple.

요한복음에서는 로고스(말씀)라는 단어를 사용해 인간으로 오신 그리스도의 신비를 설명하고자 했으며 그리스도인들에게 예수님이 하난미의 아들 그리스도이심을 믿게 하기 위해 쓰여졌다. 본서의 목적은 복음을 전도하기 위한 것이며 20장 31절에 그와 같이 기록되어 있다. 요한복음은 다른 복음서와 마찬가지로 여러 사건들을 기록하고 있을 뿐만 아니라 그 사건들에 영적인 의미를 부여함으로써 새로운 각도에서 그것들을 해석하고 있는데 빛, 물, 생명, 사랑, 양식과 같은 단어들을 비유적으로 사용하고 있다. 전통적으로 본서의 저자는 사랑받은 사도 요한으로 본다.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

1) in the beginning : 태초에
  = Before anything else existed = When the world(or all things) began
  = In the beginning of time(or the world)

2) the Word
   성경(= the Bible)
   (그리스도의 칭호로서의) 로고스=Logos),복음(=the gospel)

3) be with ~와 함께 있다.
 The Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
 네가 어디로 가든지 네 하나님 여호와가 너와 함께하느니라(수1:9)

 In the beginning was the Word. 태초에 말씀이 계시니라..
문두에 장소, 방향의 부사나 부사구가 오면 [대명사 주어+자동사/자동사+일반명사 주어] 순서로 온다.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. 태초에 말씀이 계셨다. 그 말씀은 하나님과 함께 계셨다. 그 말씀은 하나님이셨다. 그는 태초에 하나님과 함께 계셨다. 모든 것이 그로 말미암아 생겨났으니, 그가 없이 생겨난 것은 하나도 없다. 그의 안에서 생겨난 것은 생명이었으니, 그 생명은 모든 사람의 빛이었다. 그 빛이 어둠 속에서 비치니, 어둠이 그 빛을 이기지 못하였다.

There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 하나님께서 보내신 사람이 있었다. 그 이름은 요한이었다. 그 사람은 빛을 증언하러 왔다. 그 증언으로 모든 사람을 믿게 하려는 것이었다. 그 사람 자신은 빛이 아니었다. 그는 그 빛을 증언하러 온 것뿐이다. 그 빛이 세상에 오셨으니, 모든 사람을 비추는 참 빛이시다. 그는 세상에 계셨다. 세상이 그로 말미암아 생겨났는데도, 세상은 그를 알지 못하였다.

He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God-- children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. John testifies concerning him. He cries out, saying, "This was he of whom I said, 'He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.' " 그가 자기 땅에 오셨으나, 그의 백성은 그를 맞아들이지 않았다. 그러나 그를 맞아들인 사람들, 곧 그 이름을 믿는 사람들에게는, 하나님의 자녀가 되는 특권을 주셨다. 그들은 혈통으로나 육정으로나, 사람의 욕망으로 나지 않고, 하나님께로부터 났다. 말씀이 육신이 되어 우리 가운데 사셨다. 우리는 그의 영광을 보았다. 그 영광은 아버지께서 주신 독생자의 영광이며, 그 안에는 은혜와 진리가 충만하였다. From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only,who is at the Father's side, has made him known. Now this was John's testimony when the Jews of Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to ask him who he was. He did not fail to confess, but confessed freely, "I am not the Christ." 우리는 모두 그의 충만한 데서 은혜 위에 은혜를 받았다. 율법은 모세에게서 받았고, 은혜와 진리는 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 생겨났다. 일찍이 하나님을 본 사람이 없으나, 아버지의 품 속에 계시는 독생자이신 하나님이 그분을 나타내 보이셨다. 유대 사람들이 예루살렘에서 제사장들과 레위 지파 사람들을 요한에게 보내서 "당신은 누구요?" 하고 물어 보게 하였을 때에 요한의 증언은 이러하였다. 그는 거절하지 않고 고백하였다. "나는 그리스도가 아니오" 하고 고백하였다.

They asked him, "Then who are you? Are you Elijah?" He said, "I am not." "Are you the Prophet?" He answered, "No." Finally they said, "Who are you? Give us an answer to take back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?" John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, "I am the voice of one calling in the desert, 'Make straight the way for the Lord.' " Now some Pharisees who had been sent questioned him, "Why then do you baptize if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?" 그들이 다시 요한에게 "그러면, 당신은 누구요? 엘리야요?" 하고 물으니, 그는 "아니오" 하고 대답하였다. "그러면 당신은 예언자요?" 하고 물으니, 요한은 "아니오" 하고 대답하였다. 또 그들이 말하였다. "그러면, 당신은 누구란 말이오? 우리를 보낸 사람들에게 대답할 말을 좀 해주시오. 당신은 스스로를 무엇이라고 생각하시오?" 요한이 대답하였다. "I baptize with water," John replied, "but among you stands one you do not know. He is the one who comes after me, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie." This all happened at Bethany on the other side of the Jordan, where John was baptizing. The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! This is the one I meant when I said, 'A man who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.' 요한이 대답하였다. "나는 물로 세례를 주오. 그런데 여러분 가운데, 여러분이 알지 못하는 이가 한 분 서 계시오. 그는 내 뒤에 오시는 분이지만, 나는 그의 신발 끈을 풀 만한 자격조차 없소." 이것은, 요한이 세례를 주던 요단 강 건너편, 베다니에서 일어난 일이다. 이튿날 요한은 예수께서 자기에게 오시는 것을 보고 말하였다. "보시오, 세상 죄를 지고 가는 하나님의 어린 양입니다. 내가 전에 말하기를 '내 뒤에 한 분이 오실 터인데, 그분은 나보다 먼저 계시기에, 나보다 앞서신 분이다' 한 적이 있습니다. 그것은 이분을 두고 한 말입니다.

I myself did not know him, but the reason I came baptizing with water was that he might be revealed to Israel." Then John gave this testimony: "I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him. I would not have known him, except that the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, 'The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is he who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.' I have seen and I testify that this is the Son of God." The next day John was there again with two of his disciples. 나도 이분을 알지 못하였습니다. 내가 와서 물로 세례를 주는 것은, 이분을 이스라엘에게 알리려고 하는 것입니다." 요한이 또 증언하였다. "나는, 성령이 비둘기같이 하늘에서 내려오는 것을 보았습니다. 성령은 이분 위에 머물렀습니다. 나도 이분을 몰랐습니다. 그러나 물로 세례를 주라고 나를 보내신 분이 나에게 말씀하시기를 '성령이 어떤 사람 위에 내려와서 머무르는 것을 보거든, 그가 바로 성령으로 세례를 주시는 분임을 알아라' 하셨습니다. 그런데 나는 그것을 보았습니다. 그래서 나는, 이분이 하나님의 아들이라고 증언하였습니다." 다음날 요한이 다시 자기 제자 두 사람과 같이 서 있다가,

When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, "Look, the Lamb of God!" When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus. Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, "What do you want?" They said, "Rabbi" (which means Teacher), "where are you staying?" "Come," he replied, "and you will see." So they went and saw where he was staying, and spent that day with him. It was about the tenth hour. Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus. 예수께서 지나가시는 것을 보고서 "보아라, 하나님의 어린 양이다" 하고 말하였다. 그 두 제자는 요한이 하는 말을 듣고, 예수를 따라갔다. 예수께서 돌아서서, 그들이 따라오는 것을 보시고 "너희는 무엇을 찾고 있느냐?" 하고 물으셨다. 그들은 "랍비님, 어디에 묵고 계십니까?" 하고 말하였다. ('랍비'는 선생님이라는 말이다.) 예수께서 그들에게 "와서 보아라" 하고 대답하시니, 그들이 따라가서, 예수께서 묵고 계시는 곳을 보고, 그 날을 그분과 함께 지냈다. 때는 오후 네 시쯤이었다. 요한의 말을 듣고 예수를 따라간 두 사람 가운데 하나는, 시몬 베드로의 동생 안드레이다.

The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, "We have found the Messiah" (that is, the Christ). And he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas" (which, when translated, is Peter). The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to him, "Follow me." Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida. Philip found Nathanael and told him, "We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote--Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph." 이 사람은 먼저 자기 형 시몬을 만나서 "우리가 메시아를 만났소" 하고 말하였다. "Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?" Nathanael asked. "Come and see," said Philip. When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, "Here is a true Israelite, in whom there is nothing false." "How do you know me?" Nathanael asked. Jesus answered, "I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you." Then Nathanael declared, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel." Jesus said, "You believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You shall see greater things than that." 나다나엘이 그에게 말하기를 "나사렛에서 무슨 선한 것이 나올 수 있겠소?" 하니, 빌립은 그에게 "와서 보시오" 하고 말하였다. 예수께서 나다나엘이 자기에게로 오는 것을 보시고, 그에 대하여 말씀하셨다. "네가 무화과나무 아래 있을 때에, 내가 너를 보았다고 해서 믿느냐? 이것보다 더 큰 일을 네가 볼 것이다."

He then added, "I tell you the truth, you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man." 예수께서 그에게 또 말씀하셨다. "내가 진정으로 진정으로 너희에게 말한다. 너희는, 하늘이 열리고 하나님의 천사들이 인자 위에 오르락 내리락 하는 것을, 보게 될 것이다."
