In him was life, and that life was the light of men.
그분 안에 생명이 있었으니 그 생명은 사람들은 빛이었다.
In him was life(생명이 그 안에 있었다) :
life was in him 의 도치구문...
=He was the source of life, and that life for humanity ( or all people).
*humanity n. 인간, 인류(=mankind)
=Everything that was created received its life from him, and life gave light to everyone.
=All that came to be was alive with his life, and that was the light of men.
*be alive with (물건,장소등이) ~으로 생기에 넘치다.
=All that came to be had life in him, and that life brought light to all people.
In him was life, and that life was the light of men.
